Until their last show, The White Stripes had never played a show in Mississippi, birthplace of Son House and Robert Johnson, two of Jack’s idols.

The concert was at an amphitheater in Southaven, MS, which is actually in the Memphis, TN metro area, located a few miles off Interstate 55, which runs down to New Orleans and up to Chicago. 

This was not intended to be their last concert. No one knew at the time. The rest of the tour was cancelled, due to Meg’s anxiety problems. 

This is a recording of the last song The White Stripes played in concert. 

“Alright, this is our last song of the night. It’s been a good one… We’ve played everywhere in the United States east of the Mississippi after tonight. And we’re gonna keep on truckin’… 

My sister thanks you, and I thank you. 

Thank you, Mississippi. I can’t believe how long it’s taken us to get here. Thanks for waiting. Thanks for coming. Thanks for buying our records, thanks for buying a ticket. We love you very much. Thank you.
